The Relationship Between Pornography and the American Culture
An analysis of the relationship between pornography and the American culture reveals that the industry is blamed for dozens of social ills for the men of our society. Those ills also work to damage the women in several irreparable ways. Some of the damages to men include: illegal sexual behavior, illegal non-sexual behavior, callousness, sexual harassment, casual sex, and multiple sexual partners. The problems for the women directly involved in the industry are long term and long lasting, creating overall issues that affect womenââ¬â¢s economic and social status. But what are there damages caused by the type of movies most women love, the type of movies they drag their boyfriends and husbands to, the type of movies millions watch unashamedlyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦A content analysis of two other highly consumer-rated films revealed an emphasis on several themes including fate, destiny, love at first sight, and the idea that people will only be happy when they find the one, perfect mate who was made for them. For this research paper, I reviewed two mainstream romantic comedies. The first was Somethingââ¬â¢s Gotta Give (2003) and the second was Playing For Keeps (2012). In each of these movies, the main male and female characters strived throughout the movie to find their one and only true love. Overall, the former is a much better movie than the latter. Somethingââ¬â¢s Gotta Give featured a nearly over-the-hill life-long bachelor who had habitually dated women younger than 30 years old. In fact, it is one 20-something who brings Harry, the main male character played by Jack Nicholson, to her motherââ¬â¢s house for a fun weekend for just the two of them. However, Harry and his young girlfriend fatefully discover that her mother is also staying at the home over the weekend. During the early portion of the stay, Harry has a heart attack and his girlfriendââ¬â¢s mother, Erica, saves him by hastily performing CPR and directing her daughter to call an ambulance. Unknown to Harry and Erica, this act consummated their relationship and aligned their destinies toward an eventual happy ending. The movie contained several twists and turns along the way aimed at demonstrating to the audience and the characters that no matter whatShow MoreRelatedPornography Is The Problem Of Pornography907 Words à |à 4 Pages Pornography is essentially the ââ¬Å"crack cocaineâ⬠of the internet. Rousseau also advocated the idea of a contract between citizens and the state, and his idea of ââ¬Å" general willâ⬠which helps in defending the actions of the citizens of Libya. Libya is a North African nation of about 5,600,000 people of mixed Berber and Arab origin (Everything Our Government Really Does). Ninety-seven percent of the population are Sunni Muslims and fifty-seven percent live in or near the three Mediterranean coastal cities of Tripoli, Benghazi, and Misratah. It is mostly made up of desert and contributes through high-quality petroleum reserves on the world scene (Everything Our Government Really Does) . At the age of 27, Mummar al-Gaddafi seized power and established five major goals: removal of foreign military bases, international neutrality, national unity, Arab unity and suppression of political parties. After his first year ââ¬âall- with the exception of Arab unity were accomplished. Arab unity began to be an obsessive matter to al-Ggaddafi, who made corrupt laws and had periods of unknown absence throughout his reign. We will write a custom essay sample on Libya or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Rousseau through a number of important social and political works, argued that civilization had a corrupting influence on humans. He also suggested that the social structure that encouraged self-interest instead of goodwill toward others had corrupted human nature and ruined societies way of life and the search of happiness. The Libyan society as a whole is a perfect example of this because it seems as if the citizens were apart of a corrupt society. It also appears that the Libyans, like Rousseau stated had lost their way of life and in turn their search of happiness. Those two factors alone, give enough of an impacting influence for the citizens to have rebelled against their leadership. In reference to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, under article 20 ââ¬Å" Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and associationâ⬠and ââ¬Å" No one may be compelled to belong to an associationâ⬠(Blair, Ryan Elliot and Manning). With the obsession to create a Arabic community, Muammar al-Gaddafi eliminated diversity and forced everyone into one association which is a breach In the human rights.Rousseau also took note of the state in governing. He proposed the idea of a contract between citizens and the state. The state, according to Rousseau, should be governed according to the ââ¬Å"general willâ⬠of the people. In connection to the Libyan scandal, Rousseau believed that the relationship between the state and the citizens was a beneficial relationship in which the state could be removed if the people willed it. These facts go to support and justify the acts and behaviours of the citizens of Libya. To Rousseau, the actions of the citizens would of been completely called for. Under article 21 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights it states ââ¬Å"Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representives. â⬠And ââ¬Å"the will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures. (Blair, Ryan Elliot and Manning). Once again, since the people had no say and no control over the government, it is another breach in the human rights. As a philosopher, Rousseau strongly believed in the ââ¬Å"general willâ⬠of a society. He preached that the majority of society needs to be happy, or else the relationship between governing leaders and citizens would not be strong. The citizens of Libya are a prime example of how citizens failed to have things done in their favour or in their ââ¬Å" general willâ⬠, will end up rebelling against their leaders. His pointââ¬â¢s make the acts of the Libyans justifiable for the simple fact that they werenââ¬â¢t being considered in the ruling of their own country. That itself is an violation of Article 22 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights ââ¬Å" Everyone, as a member of society, has the right to social security and is entitled to realization, through national effort and international co-operation and in accordance with the organization and reso urces of each State, of the economic, social and cultural rights indispensable for his dignity and the free development of his personalityâ⬠(Blair, Ryan Elliot and Manning).

Avoiding the Four Main Failure Mechanisms of Small Business
Avoiding the Four Main Failure Mechanisms of Small Business Free Online Research Papers My partner and I have made the decision to open our very own partnership business. We have been working for S J Home Repairs for the past fifteen years. We have studied all aspects of the business together; bring S J Home Repairs to a well established and reputable business for the owner. One day we went to the boss with a suggestion of us becoming partners in the company, because we were the ones actually running our offer down. By this time Jack and I decided we can do these ourselves. One afternoon we sat down and worked out all the financial decisions and exactly what we both needed to bring to the table to get this done. Finally it hit us that, we are going to be our own bosses and there is no more set time, we have to motivate and organize everything ourselves. One of the decisions we made is to hirer three managers and twenty additional employees. The manager for the Queens region will get 6 employees to work with him, the manager for the Bronx will get 7 employees and Brooklyn the next 7 employees. Being good managers is the first step to achieving success in your business. ââ¬Å"Todayââ¬â¢s managers must be self-aware, observant, and understanding.â⬠(AllBusiness.com). It is important to give praise to your star employees, not because they are good at what their do, doesnââ¬â¢t mean they do not want to hear their boss say, ââ¬Å"good jobâ⬠or ââ¬Å"well done.â⬠Another good way is to let them know exactly what the companyââ¬â¢s goals are and think about other strategies that will include them. However, in business there is always that risk of failure, so you will want to devise a plan that will help avoid the four main failure mechanisms of small business which are: Managerial incompetence or inexperience Neglect Weak control systems Insufficient capital In order to avoid managerial incompetence or inexperience, business owners must find different ways to develop their management skills, donââ¬â¢t depend only on common sense. Being competent in this phase of the business is extremely important for the foundation of the business. These skills allow you to make better decisions on, dealing with emergencies, recruiting, purchasing, book keeping, marketing, training, planning etc. To avoid failure business owners need to identify the things that is needed to be accomplished, their need to ensure that they organize their resources; they need to pay close attention to the performance and the task completion (need to be will informed). Business owners also need to look ahead and make plans for any future requirements and try dealing with any problems that may arise. Avoiding neglect, business owners need to set aside devoted time for their business in order to succeed, especially in the starting up stages of the business. They need to pay attention to every detail of the business and its workers. Show your managers and employees that you are totally involved in the running of you business and that you need to be informed on any matter that relates to the business. Having a weak control system is also damaging to a business. Business owners need to an open communication between their employees and focus on growing the company profits before offering credit possibilities to it customers. Starting a business with the right amount of capital can also lead to a successful business. First you need to ensure that you have at least one yearââ¬â¢s capital because most new business start seeing profits after the first 6 months of business. So for the business to succeed and start profiting business owners must try to avoid the things that can lead to failures for the business. Reference: AllBusiness.com 2007. (Home page). Creative short story on time travel - Essay Example Existing historical works give us a past, which seem so unreal and amazing. The existence of humongous animals that dwelt million years ago known as dinosaurs and mammoths, man eating raw meat, such things drove my adventurous spirit into wanting to discover more. The fact that all that happened prior to my existence and I did not get the chance to witness it all happen, made me restless. I had sleepless nights, many imaginations made me perturbed. I could not rest a second knowing that all these events passed without me witnessing. I felt jealous of the crude man for he was there and I was not. Sometimes I even despised my folks for conceiving after all the happenings. It was now obvious that I was obsessed with the past. The only thing that would calm my spirits was to visit the past and experience the happening of the events. Though it seemed absurd, I was determined to accomplish my mission. My enthusiasm brought zeal unto me. My mission was to visit my past and nothing would make me back down. My name is Robert Spencer and this is my story. I was born by a Persian mother and an Arabic father in the year 1345 of April. My mother was poor and her background was not at all stable. She lived by the hand and her little income is what sustained us. Alice Spenser was her name. Her parents who also unfortunately happened to be my grandparents disowned her when she got pregnant with me. She came from a strict background with tight moral values. Her fatherââ¬â¢s image came first then his family followed suit. Being a deacon in the church his image was very important in the society. That is the main reason her father could not tolerate early pregnancies. My father of came to Persia as a scholar. He met my mum in church and my mother mesmerized him with her aesthetical endowment. One thing led to the other and without knowing my mum was pregnant. It did not occur to her that she was with child until my dad had already left. With no way of

Economic Geography - Essay Example hat resurfaced between the US and Europe was among the significant initiatives directed at fostering the success of trade between US and the EU countries. The United States trades with a number of countries in diverse regions, top among them being China and EU countries. The extent of trade between the US and China, for instance, is notably expansive. The trade between America and EU countries is much higher than that involving America and China. It is notable that in the elimination of trade barriers, there is a likelihood that trade would increase between any two or more partners in the exchange network. Uplifting tariffs and drawbacks that may deter trade among partners in any trade relationship promotes imports and exports. According to Ewing, the free-trade agreement between the two regions has a past record but never achieved success for nearly a decade (Ewing 1). The deal, if implemented, would create massive and appreciated economic effect in Europe and the United States. The two, Europe and the United States, are strong partners in trade. According to leaders from the European Union, the pact would cause a serious economic growth in the two regions and encourage President Obama to channel for the agreement. Besides the pressure from European Union leaders, corporations and other businesses in Europe are bargaining to have the pact operational. By November 2012, there were low charges, in the form of tariffs, for trade between the US and EU countries. However, signing a free-trade deal by the two parties would be beneficial for businesses and companies dealing in large amount of goods in the trans-Atlantic business region. According to Karan Bhatia, who served as a trade representative for the US, the free-trade deal would create a substantial contribution to trade in the history of trade between EU and the US. In addition, the pact would not be costly for the taxpayers, according to Bhatia. Despite the predicted low opposition towards the coming into
